Cognitive analysis of Tagging

I recently found an article by Rashmi on cognitive analysis of tagging and am I glad I found it!

Our R&D team had been having discussions regarding the importance of tagging and how this should and must become an influential part of SEO program also, apart from User Experience Improvement program.

We had been researching on how search engines are utilizing tagging. Tagging gives such an insight into how humans identify with and itemize information. Rashmi’s article throws more light on how tagging involves cognitive process and is different than categorizing.

Social search engines are the thing of the future. Ranking sites based on the textual Tags they’ve been shared under allows the involvement of the community. Tags to social search engines would be like anchor texts to the current web search – a source of determining a site’s authoritative status.
